This study examines the views and experiences of hotel and travel agency employees working in the tourism sector, which operates on a 24/7 uninterrupted service basis, regarding the concept of “right to disconnect”—the right to disconnect from digital communication outside working hours. The starting point of the research is the fact that technological tools have made flexible working widespread, thereby blurring the boundaries between work and private life. In this qualitative study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 participants working in five-star hotels and Group A travel agencies in the Kuşadası region, using purposive sampling techniques. The data obtained were evaluated through content analysis using open and axial coding methods. According to the research findings, the diversity of corporate communication channels and the continuous nature of the sector create mental fatigue and a sense of constant work among employees. It was determined that participants lack conceptual awareness of the right to disconnect, and that managers' expectations of constant availability, guest-centricity, shortage of qualified personnel, and implicit sanctions constitute structural barriers to this right. The research findings aim to contribute to the literature and sector managers by revealing the negative effects of constant availability pressure on employee well-being and work-life balance.
