The Last Dance Belgeseli Özelinde Michael Jordan’ın Liderlik Modeli

Bu araştırmanın amacı, Michael Jordan'ın liderlik modelini "The Last Dance" belgeseli çerçevesinde analiz ederek, örgütsel davranış ve liderlik literatürüne teorik katkı sağlamaktır. Literatürde otoriter, transformasyonel, karizmatik ve durumsal liderlik teorilerinin farklı örgütsel bağlamlardaki etkinlik düzeylerinin değişkenlik gösterdiği görülmektedir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemi kapsamında tekli durum çalışması deseni kullanılmış, Eğlence ve Spor Programlama Ağı (Entertainment and Sports Programming Network-ESPN) ve Netflix yapımı "The Last Dance" belgeseli veri kaynağı olarak belirlenmiştir. Çalışmada 10 bölümlük belgeselin tamamı taranmış, liderlik davranışı içeren toplam 25 olay zaman kodlarıyla çözümlenmiştir. Veriler, Braun ve Clarke'ın (2006) altı aşamalı tematik analiz yaklaşımıyla analiz edilmiş ve Jordan'ın liderlik davranışları dört tema altında kodlanmıştır. Bulgular, Jordan'ın otoriter, transformasyonel, karizmatik ve durumsal liderlik özelliklerini eş zamanlı olarak sergilediği karma bir liderlik modeli oluşturduğunu göstermektedir. Jordan'ın baskıcı yaklaşımının takım üyeleri üzerinde psikolojik baskı oluşturmasına rağmen performans artışına katkı sağladığı, rol model davranışıyla ilham verici motivasyon sunduğu, olağanüstü performansıyla karizmatik etki yarattığı ve durumsal koşullara göre liderlik tarzını değiştirebildiği tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçları, takım liderliğinin çok boyutlu ve bağlamsal özellikler taşıdığını ortaya koymuştur.
