Abstract

This study examined the moderating role of flow at work in the relationship between employees’ life satisfaction and job stress. The findings showed that life satisfaction had a job stress-reducing effect, which was significantly moderated by flow at work. Specifically, the negative effect of life satisfaction on job stress was significant among employees with low or moderate levels of flow at work. However, this effect became insignificant at high levels of flow experience. Additionally, flow at work was positively associated with life satisfaction and negatively associated with job stress. This suggests that flow at work independently facilitates employees’ ability to cope with job stress. Furthermore, the results indicated that female employees reported higher levels of flow at work than male employees. Overall, these results emphasise the importance of organisational practices that promote life satisfaction and flow at work, in order to strengthen employees' capacity to cope with job stress. The results also offer theoretical contributions to the literature and practical implications for organisations.
