METEOROLOGY-RELATED DİSRUPTİONS İN AİRLİNE OPERATİONS MANAGEMENT

Abstract

The goal of this study can be described as creating an algorithm related to the problems caused by meteorological events for airway operations and trying to identify under which conditions such problems turn into disruptions. For this purpose, the solutions applied in airline operation management to overcome the problems related to meteorological events were shown in the algorithm created as the result of interviews with 22 dispatchers and 2 meteorology engineers working in AOCC (Airline Operation Control Centre) of airlines in Turkey and effort was made to determine under which conditions such problems turn into disruptions. The conclusion arrived as a result of the study is that the algorithm related to the meteorological event causing problem in airline operations can be revealed and thus, it can be found out under which conditions the airway operations are disrupted and under which conditions the disruption can be prevented by taking necessary actions.
