EVALUATION OF THE PROBLEM INTERNET USE OF STUDENTS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE SCHOOL SOCIAL WORK: A QUALITATIVE STUDY

Internet is a technology that is used by many people of all income and age groups and whose access is increasing day by day. In this qualitatively designed study, 16 students were interviewed using the snowball sampling method. The data collected through the structured interview form were analyzed using the content analysis method. As a result of the study, the inefficient use of time on students' problematic internet use behavior, decreased social activities, negative effects on social skills and relationships, social isolation, bullying, exposure to hate speech, exhibiting aggressive and aggressive behaviors, learning wrong values, health problems, academic success and negative effects such as decreased performance, academic procrastination behavior, not doing homework and not studying. It has been revealed that the school social worker is needed to remove the obstacles to their social and academic achievements as students are negatively affected individually, socially and academically.
