Abstract

Domestic work refers to the activities that constitute an important area of business life and that the employees perform in their own homes or in the homes of employers. This type of work is different from traditional forms of employment, which are often performed outside the home, and is particularly prevalent among women in developing countries. Although domestic work offers advantages such as flexible working hours and the opportunity to perform work in the comfort of the home, it also brings many difficulties and problems for workers. Domestic work creates uncertainty between work and private life for employees. Since the work is done at home, there is no specific order in working hours. In addition, work in housework is discussed over the concept of overtime, as it is a work focused on the completion of the housework. Domestic work is generally seen as a female labor force in developing countries. Especially in Türkiye, domestic workers have important problems in many areas of working life such as lack of social security, low wages, working environment and hours, organization, occupational health and safety issues. This study aims to present a discussion about domestic work and the problems of women's employment in domestic services in Türkiye. The aim of the study is to reveal the problems experienced by the female workforce working in domestic services, to shed light on these problems and to offer suggestions in terms of preventing the difficulties experienced.
