Abstract

The term Lean Manufacturing was built on five basic principles; value creation, value-stream, continuous flow, manufacture of tensile and excellence in production. Therefore, firms tend to create sustainable and high performance meanwhile implementing the elements of the lean manufacturing system. In this research, it is aimed to develop a new model to survey the relationship between lean production, sustainability and firm performance. The universe of the research consists of companies affiliated to Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI). 113 companies were identified by Simple Random Sampling, and the data were collected by a questionnaire and analyzed by SPSS package program by testing hypotheses. Economic sustainability and firm performance are closely related to and affected by Lean Production System and environmental sustainability. As a result, the lean production system has a closely relationship with sustainability firm performance and therefore it can be significantly effective in shaping the systematic behaviours of enterprises.
