Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to determine the attitudes and awareness of social studies teacher candidates towards intangible cultural heritage as regards to various parameters. The study was carried out 196 social studies candidates from 1,2,3 and 4. grade levels studying at Gazi University Faculty of Education. In this study designed according to the quantitative descriptive research method, the data were collected through a 5-point Likert-type attitude questionnaire developed by Gürel and Çetin (2018) and an achievement test prepared by the researchers. The data obtained were analyzed using the SPSS 20 package program. According to the results of research, although the attitudes of social studies teacher candidates towards intangible cultural heritage are generally high, their success levels and awareness are low. In addition, it was concluded that the attitudes and awareness of teacher candidates may be affected by some of the variables such as gender, grade level, place of residence and cumulative grade point average.
