RESEARCH OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ORGANIZATIONAL DISCRIMINATION PERCEIVED AND ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT

The purpose of this study is to research the relationship between organizational discrimination perceived and organizational commitment. It is has been seen that there are a limited number of studies on the relationship between these two subjects in the literature. It is expected that the study will contribute to the literature in this respect.
This descriptive study was achieved in 2019 on the academic and administrative staff of Kırşehir Ahi Evran University. In the study, simple random sample selection method was used and a face-to-face questionnaire was applied to 155 academic and administrative staff who accepted to participate in the study. The perceived organizational discrimination scale used for the collection of data was considered in two dimensions as ’’discrimination based on perceived gender and political view’’. There are 9 expressions in each scale. The scale was developed by Jagusztyn (2010) and adapted to Turkish by Kaya (2016). Organizational Commitment Scale was developed by Allen and Mayer (1990) and the scale was adapted to Turkish by Wasti (2000). The scale includes 23 questions.
Descriptive statistics, test of normality for the data’ suitability to the normal distribution, t test between the independent groups, one-way variance analysis, correlation analysis were applied on the collected data. As a result of the study, the average of organizational commitment was calculated as 3.19, the average of gender discrimination was calculated as 1.54 and the average of political discrimination was calculated as 1.70. The findings exposed that; the perception of discrimination level is low and perceived organizational commitment level is above the average in the instituon researched. As a result of the correlation analysis to determine the relationship between discrimination and organizational commitment, there has been determined a negative and statistically a significant relationship between political discrimination perception and organizational commitment (r= -0.265; p <0.01). Additionally, there has been determined that a negative but statistically an insignificant relationship between perception of gender discrimination and organizational commitment (r = -0,119; p> 0.05).
