Abstract

Cooperatives are one of important tools that contribute to regional development due to the role they play. In this study, the effects of cooperative activities on regional development in Turkey is discussed. The development of cooperatives in Turkey, the studies carried out in this subject and its importance of it in terms of regional development have been examined, especially through the development plans and past data on cooperatives. Accordingly, cooperatives contribute to regional development and thus to economic growth by creating new job opportunities, increasing employment, reducing intermediaries between producers and consumers, and enabling individuals to participate in the economy.
