In this study, it is aimed to reveal the coherence levels of written expressions of secondary school 5th grade students. In the study, a qualitative approach was adopted and document analysis was carried out. In order to evaluate the text coherence in the research, a total of 76 secondary school 5th grade students, 33 boys and 43 girls, studying at a public school in the city center in the Central Anatolia Region, constitute the study group. Easily accessible sampling method was used. The “Coherence Evaluation Scale” developed by Ülper (2008) and included in Ülper (2011) with the latest regulation was used as a data collection tool. Considering the scale in question, each text was examined and evaluated. As a result of the research, it was determined that the students were sufficient to ensure the integrity of the subject, but insufficient to establish the connection between the parts of the text, the introduction-development-result. The students are weak at the level of making changes and reductions in the text; It has been determined that they are at moderate levels in making connections between consecutive sentences, creating grammatical connections, using connectors correctly, and writing appropriate titles. Finally, suggestions are presented considering that it will support secondary school students to examine the coherence in their written products, identify the missing points, and support them to write coherent texts with logical integrity.
