Abstract


Land reform is the redistrubition of agricultural land belonging to public and private sector in favor of the landless farmers or farm workers. Land Reform maintains its importance in every period.


However, history of the Land reform lying on very ancient time, the most important developments have been occured after the Second World War. Especially in 1950’s and 1960’s there has been significant developments about Re-regulation of Property rights. In this period, there has been many examples of succesful and unsuccesful implementation of Agrarian Reform. Achievement has been increased after the importance given to issues by the goverment and their support measure after the reform.
Previously, the target with Land Reform was abolition of feodalism and land classification of farmers/farm workers. But In later years the main target is prevention of rural poverty and provide rural development.
In this study, implementation of Land Reform in our country and other countries have been discussed in detail. Development in Land Reform implementations have been examined based on the historical development of the countries. Successful and unsuccessful applications were evaluated with the causes and consequences.
