Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of making parents aware of the effectiveness of family education and family participation studies. In the study, a mixed method was used to experimentally investigate the effectiveness of the family education and family participation program, in which semi-experimental, pre-test and post-test control groups were used together with descriptive and quantitative methods. The study group of the study consisted of parents of children attending kindergartens of primary schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Ankara (n = 52). For the quantitative and qualitative dimension of the study, criteria sampling was used from the purposeful sampling method when the study group was selected.This research ""Opinion Form for Parent Teacher and Instructor"", ""Form for Evaluation of Family Participation for Parents"" and qualitative data by means of semi-structured interviews and observations made with parents were collected by the researcher. The researcher provided training for two teachers, family participation and family education. Conclusions on the quantitative data of the study; Parents in experiment 1 were found to be positive in their views towards teachers but differ in their views towards the school and it was found that there was an increase in the diversity of family participation activities they met. The parents in Experiment 2 were found to be in favor of the final test in their views towards the teacher and the school, and the parents were asked if there was a difference in favor of the final test for the ""Participation Evaluation Form for Parents"" in the family participation activities they met, but as a result of interviews with the parents, they reached the result that they did not encounter any work.Results of the qualitative data of the study; Parents in Experiments 1 and 2 reached the conclusion that they believed in the necessity of family participation and were willing to participate in family education and family participation studies.
