This study will address women’s movement from Ottoman Empire to Turkish Republic referring to Nezihe Muhiddin who was the prominent name of that period, and shed light on women’s struggles to have their political rights. Therefore, it will be problematized the govenment’s attitude against the activities of the Turkish Women’s Union, included Nezihe Muhiddin. The Women’s movement has been carefully chosen to be examined from Second Constitutional until the end of the single-party period of the Republic in terms of Nezihe Muhiddin’s effectiveness and political rights. Kemalist ideology’s the new women’s vision and in accordance with this ideology conferring political rights to women as if there was not demand of women on rights will be criticized. By reading the history that does not disregard women, the argument of having political rights thanks to women’s struggle will be affirmed.
