Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the socio-economic structure of seasonal worker families and their thoughts towards their working children, as mobile and local seasonal agricultural worker families. The study included the families of seasonal hazelnut farmers in Giresun who employed their children as agricultural workers. Study data were collected through face-to-face interviews with 58 families living in Bulancak, Espiye, and Tirebolu three districts of Giresun province center, selected by snowball sampling. The findings of the research indicate that families employing their child as seasonal agricultural workers have low education and income levels. Furthermore, social network analysis results indicate that these families are concerned about child labor in seasonal agricultural activities.
