DISRUPTIONS IN AIRLINE OPERATION MANAGEMENT DUE TO NOTAM PUBLICATION

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to create an algorithm that shows the solution index of the problems due to NOTAM publications encountered by the AOCC (Airline Operation Control Center) department that carries out the operations of the airlines, and to determine the conditions under which these problems turn into a disruption. A notice to airmen (NOTAM) is a notice containing information concerning the establishment, condition or change in any aeronautical facility, service, procedure or hazard, the timely knowledge of which is essential to personnel concerned with flight operations. In some cases, these publications may cause problems in airline operation management and cause disruption of the operation. For purpose of determining the problems caused by NOTAM and under which conditions they turn into disruption, 28 dispatcher worked for AOCC department of three airlines operating in Turkey was interviewed. As a result of the research, it can be stated that an algorithm has been reached that shows the solution of problems arising from NOTAM publications in airline operations management and under which conditions these problems turn into disruption.
