Abstract

Globalization can be regarded as an adaptation process of a product or a service to a special language to culture and local decisions. In this process the products or services which are produced for global markets should carry local lines and local-cultural specialties. The localization in globalization process gives opportunity for improvement to local economies, culture and competition. In this way, local economies can develop in globalization process and exist in the global markets. At the present day, cooperative unions are one of the most suitable samples that exhibit activities in this process. While Cooperative unions produce local products and services, they can also operate in the larger markets too. While these non-profit organizations strive to protect interests of their members, they also play an important role in the development of local society and economy. In this study, the importance of cooperative unions in globalization process is discussed.
